Multi-family is a core project type for Brown Design Studio. It is our goal to bring dignified housing choices that address the "missing middle", which provide price points for all lifestyles. Our experience is that you need both affordable rentals and higher end choices in most markets, in order to establish and expand a diverse, sustainable community. The building types that fall into missing middle housing are what help to create walkable, affordable, and diverse communities. Our design objective is to bring great units to the table with a simple yet elegant building. We achieve this by incorporating traditional patterns and proportions, while accommodating ‘outdoor living spaces’ (ie. porches, galleys, and/or balconies) where appropriate.
