The Classicist No.13: Mansion Flat Duplexes

This year, Brown Design had the opportunity to be featured in the thirteenth volume of The Classicist, in The Classicist Professional Portfolio.

With the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) being a leading national nonprofit organization, it displays the strong focus and dedication to the advancing practices and appreciation of the classical traditions in architecture and art of all the American South.

Mansion Flat Duplexes, Habersham, South Carolina

Our Missing-Middle, Mansion Flat Duplexes had the opportunity of being featured in the this year’s Professional Portfolio with The Classicist. This multi-family unit is able to create a density that has the ability to support public transit and services, along with amenities being walking distance. These kinds of features within this unit have composed a sense of place for up-and-coming communities that have made them more popular over the years. This unit has also been able to provide multiple residential units within one footprint that works well within urban areas that transitions to a less dense zone.

In Habersham, SC, our stacked two-unit duplex provides tall, lofty ceilings that display a well-proportioned form, and the benefit of the space being easy to cool. The distinctive form of our Mansion Duplex, reinforces the identity of the community and culture through what it provides, and how it delivers a clear sense of location and climate.
