Hank Dittmar is an urban designer and expert on city resilience, advising governments, companies and communities across the world on the strategies needed for the Urban Century. He is Principal at Hank Dittmar Associates and co-director of The Project for Lean Urbanism.
Hank Dittmar was the Chief Executive of The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community from 2005-2013. Prior to that, he was the Founding President and CEO of Reconnecting America, Executive Director of the Surface Transportation Policy Project, and was Chairman of the Congress for the New Urbanism from 2003-2008. He was a member of the Farrell Review of Architecture and the Built Environment for the UK government.
Hank Dittmar is a Visiting Fellow at Kellogg College, Oxford University. He is the author of the 2008 book Transport and Neighbourhoods (Edge Futures/Black Dog, 2008), co-author of Green Living: Architecture and Planning (Rizzoli, 2010), and co-author and editor of New Transit Town - Best Practices in Transit Oriented Development (Island Press, 2004). He writes a monthly column for Building Design.
